Praxis Magazine Online is currently seeking a volunteer editorial intern / associate editor (title depends on prior editorial experience). This person will work as needed in various departments reading and voting on submissions when one or more of our regular editorial staff are overloaded or out on leave, and will be directly supervised by another member of the editorial team. This position is open to any individuals regardless of country of origin or residence. The individual who is accepted to fill this position will be added to the Praxis Magazine Online masthead and will be able to cite that as experience on resumes and applications after successfully completing a minimum of three assignments.
At least two prior online publication credits, one of which MUST be a published fiction piece.
Publications in both poetry and fiction are a plus, but not required.
Previous editorial experience is a plus, but not required.
MS-Word formatting skills and html skills are both a plus.
Strong spelling and grammar skills are required.
Willingness to read a lot of material that isn’t quite up to standard with patience is required.
Willingness to gently edit and work with writers on pieces that have potential but need polishing is required.
Ability to follow instructions is essential.
Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding all assigned work is essential.
Ability to “know when you don’t know” and ask questions of a senior editor is essential.
