names like yours

“Names, songs
places we only remember
in the blood…”
~Keorapetse Kgositsile

some days for me are heavy clouds
in a vacuumed sky

I rattle my body around
to survive the belly of my bed

at times I screech my teeth,
unzip my mouth trying to scream out names

names of people and places I can remember
which once held my body in flight

which once covered my cheeks with chuckles
and filled my soul with multiple tanks of oxygen

names like yours, like books, like music –
are names which made it possible for me
to crush down dark clouds in a vacuumed sky.
