The Gospel of the Single
after Sabrina Benaim

single is
making enough love to yourself / and
spending every of your resources on yourself.

freedom, not sleeping with your eyes open /
overthinking of some guys / who might cajole
and snitch your lover.

bliss, not choking yourself to death / only
because you wake up late
on your lover’s birthday.

serenity, not fighting war with yourself;
not deleting old chats /
of long-existing friendships / that you feared
might be named: too flirting
by the mouth that kisses you.

and rolling yourself anyhow / in bed
without the fear of jumping /
into someone’s snore with a kick or / a punch
while enjoying your sleep….
