Ankara Press is a romance imprint of Cassava Republic Press in Nigeria. Launched in 2014 with six books in digital format, Ankara Press brings balance to African romance with stories featuring young and independent women who are not afraid to be themselves, to work hard and to fall in love in vivacious African cities. Ankara men are also confident, emotional and not afraid of independent and sexually assertive women!
In its second year, Ankara Press has announced the release of these first six titles in print format. The six novels, originally published as e-books, will be available in Nigeria from 14th February 2016, priced at N750.
Hear what Emma Shercliff, Ankara Press publishing director, says:
“We have had a fantastic response to the e-books, but have also had a lot of enquiries from readers asking when we will be publishing the books in hard copy. So we’re really excited to announce that we will be releasing the first six Ankara Press novels in print in Nigeria on Valentine’s Day.”
The six print titles are: A Tailor-made Romance by Oyindamola Affinnih, Black Sparkle Romance by Amara Nicole Okolo, A Taste of Love by Sifa Gowon, Love’s Persuasion by Ola Awonubi, Finding Love Again by Chioma Iwunze-Ibiam and Elevator Kiss by Amina Thula.
Added to the prints, Ankara Press will also be publishing two new books, in e-book format, on the same day! The Seeing Place by Aziza Eden Walker, a kind of romance between a powerful woman and a man who wants something only she can offer, is the story of a young actor who falls in love with his casting producer. Love Next Door, the second novel for Ankara Press by South African writer Amina Thula, is the story of a business analyst, Abby, who is torn in between making her aspirations come true and leaving behind the man of her dreams.
Talking about further publishing plans, Emma Shercliff says:
“We are trying hard to keep up with the demand from our readers and hope to publish another four titles in e-book format before the end of 2016. We will also release the first six print titles in the UK and Europe on 1st July 2016.”
With two new e-books and the arrival of the print titles on February 14th, Valentine’s Day in Nigeria just got more colourful! Do order copies for yourself and loved ones.
